Happy Friday!
The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicked off June 11, and the DMV is going all out.
We just published our complete guide to watching the tournament across DC, Arlington, and Montgomery County, and there is a lot to cover. Free fan zones on the National Mall. Country-specific viewing parties at neighborhood bars. Outdoor screenings at The Wharf. A 150-screen beer garden in Tysons. Drink deals that change depending on which team is playing.
We broke it all down so you don't have to.
A few highlights:
The free options are actually great. The National Mall fan zone runs the full tournament with every USA match plus all knockout games, open until 1 AM for select games, free, no reservation needed. D.C. United's United in Play events at Franklin Park and Navy Yard are free too, with food vendors and family programming.
Team USA match nights will be packed. The three dates to know: June 12 (vs. Paraguay, 9 PM), June 19 (vs. Australia, 3 PM), June 25 (vs. Turkey, 10 PM). Ireland's Four Courts in Courthouse is the official watch party spot for all three. BOE in Clarendon is doing the same. Show up early.
The drink deals are real. Inca Social in Rosslyn changes its specials by team: $7 margaritas during Mexico games, $7 Caipirinhas during Brazil games, $7 Surfside during USA games. Sports & Social on U Street has $3 domestic bottles for every USA match. Prost in Mount Vernon Square has $5 off 1-liter Spaten drafts all tournament.
The Wharf has a whole watch zone. Pearl Street transforms into an open-air viewing destination with a large outdoor screen. Kirwan's and Pink Tiger are already confirmed, with more spots joining throughout the month.
And as always, before or after any match, you know where to find the best happy hour deals in the DMV.
Enjoy the tournament,
